L100 air intake

Post by alexanderfoti »

Hi all

Just wondering, what are people doing for different air intakes? Im still running the stock one, but would like to replace it with a high flow cone/foam filter at some point, how are people attaching them?

I am not familiar with your arrangement, my only advice is that you be sure to use a hanger if your new airfilter is heavier than your stocker, or bad things could happen.

Hi,

I have installed a K&N SU filter, it gives more response during acceleration,

Yes, K&N or 2-3 stage foam, anything better than cardboard or paper filters. Incidentally, the Ruggerfields filter was originally fitted up front but was moved to behind the rider (corrugated pipe link) because the sound was less tiresome on the riders ears. Corrugated pipe is not a bad thing either - seems to help it some.

Thanks for the input guys, will keep an eye out on ebay for air filters that I can make fit :), having the intake right infront of my face is pretty loud!

Chrome sink drain pipe into the supercharger accumulator. Total cost $.50. It would also accommodate a K&N filter mounted directly onto the pipe and facing forward.

Many for the suggestions, ended up going with a k&n su filter, its a lot louder, but at higher rpms it sounds great!

Needed a bit of modifications for the screw mounts and the cork gasket, all good otherwise.

Bit more poke too, all good!

Is it a 1 and 1/2" or 1 and 1/4" dia. SU filter that fits the intake? Thanks for further info.

This is the one I have. I managed to use the gaskget it came with but I did need to widen a few holes and cover some holes with glue that wasn't covered by the filter.
