Making paper or card Gaskets the easy way.

Post by Mouse »

I made a card gasket a couple of days ago and thought I'd share the experience as it is a way of producing hard to find or non-existent gaskets.
Basically I scanned the engine part into the computer and then drew around the outline and checked the scale before sending it to a laser cutter in the local Hackspace open workshop.

I did a video of the process for those that are interested.

Yes I agree, but I can think of an easier way, You scan in the part and send the scan to Mouse, he uses the software he knows about , then makes the gasket and sends it to you (for a price of course) could be a nice little earner.

Just found a gasket material supplier here in the UK.

I prefer the ball pein method, it gets rid of pent up anger. That is you do not damage the ali surface your making the gasket for then it generates more anger.
