Hi all
After doing in an injection pump, I have replaced it with a new one and now i have serious running problems.
Firstly, I couldnt rev pas 2000rpm without winding out the fuel bolt at least 4-5 turns. I thought that was a bit odd.
Secondly, and a bigger issue, is that any extended acceleration or high rpm running past 3000rpm, the engine cuts out.
If I wait a bit it comes back to life and misfires heavily, any throttle input makes it cut out again.
It will idle and high idle -2000rpm +, all day without problem.
Completely stuck and really frustrated!

Re: Running problems
? compression leak that manifest it self when engine is really hot such as Head crack or warp? Or head gasket?
? Still not pushing enough full to keep it running under load?
? slightly clogged injector lines?
? fuel lines need replacing?
? Air leak that only manifest itself when under load or when hot?

Re: Running problems
It does seem air leakish.
I'm going to flush the tank and try some fresh diesel tomorrow to see if it's related.

Re: Running problems
Right. Today I:
Drained the tank.
Filled with my reliable Veg/Diesel blend (3000 miles + on this blend).
emptied and replaced both fuel filters. (careful not to overtighten on the seals)
Remove the last 5mm of leak off pipe from the injector and re-inserted again.
I now have the bike running again, across the whole rev-range which is nice.
I do have this pretty annoying looping idle, as per this video:
I am not touching the throttle.

Now Im thinking that there is a still an air leak in the system. I have my injector return feed T-ed into the supply pipe, which hasnt caused an issue before, and I can see no holes in the fuel pipe. Any thoughts>

Re: Running problems
Alex, when you replaced the injection pump, did you re-set the timing (or loose the tappet underneath the pump down into the sump).
I've done it, luckily on a Lombardini 6LD you can remove the sump and retrieve the lost tappet.

Re: Running problems
I did reset the timing. I also replaced the tappet along with the pump. Luckily I don't think you can drop the tappet into the sump on the l100 (phew!)
I have my timing advanced 5 degrees from where it should be for wvo.
