And Tata accounced a diesel version later this year. It's told to have two cylinders, 623cc and 28hp. What do you think?

Lombardini has had one in development that might be a nice fit for such an application.

I would bet money that they'll find an engine manufacturer in India for their diesel powerStuart wrote:Hi RafaelOne wonders what Diesel engine they will choose for the Diesel version

I also saw somewhere the Nano is expected to get 54 miles US /64.8 imp. gal. I would have thought it would be better than that - my 17 year old 3 cylinder Pontiac Firefly (aka Geo Metro) despite weighing more and with 60 percent more horsepower, averages 55.4 miles/US gal 66.5 miles/imp. gal.Bosch is supplying common rail direct injection (CRDi) systems for the diesel Nano as well as engine control units (ECUs) for both the powertrain variants. It cut cost on the normally expensive CRDi system by using a single plunger pump instead of three, opting for lower pressure and sourcing locally-made pumps. The ECU, too, is smaller and cheaper. The sensors are less complicated, but with more intelligent software.
