quad engines

Anyone had a look at a diesel quad to see if the engines are any good for bikes?? Also the cvt might be useful?

the quads diesel engines are typical 3cyl diesels used in many machines. Briggs/Diahatsu, maybe some Mitsubishi, some Kohler too. Others too. Might be good source for used CVT's in some area's.

Brydman knows a bit about the Polaris engine (I think ). It has been mentioned on here. Try having a search about. It's multifuel and if I recall the 2001 onwards are better than what went before.

On either the Kubota or the Briggs/Daihatsu, can't remember which, there was a turbo version & non-turbo version. The turbo had a stonger crank than non-turbos which are well known for crank breakage. Non-turbo is maybe cast, turbo is machined/forged.

Heard that about Diahatsu/Briggs. Later years suposedly the Non Turbo was switched to the turbo crank due to the breakage issue. Least that's the story I heard in reference to the ATV.

Sounds right, Coach, 'cause I was real interested in those engines & did a bunch of research, even joined a tractor related website to dig up more info. Apparently the turbo crank was a good fix. I still like that engine, it's a maybe...
