Yesterday I was able to obtain a 1973 Kawasaki Longhorn Enduro 350 for the great price of FREE!!!! The engine went toast but the rest is good to go minus a broken tail light.
I don't know anything about this bike but will know more when I go to pick it up later in the week. Pretty sweet looking. I like to think of it as VINTAGE
I purchased my engine 10HP Clone for $540 shipped off ebay this morning and expect it about the same time I get the bike near the end of the week.
I don't know what the tranny is like on this bike but most of the reading I've done is to focus on the comet series torque converters. It seems that the 500 series is the way to go and I'm sure it is. But considering it cost more than the engine itself I was wondering how the others have been working for others.
I noticed Rick was using a 40 series but I think he had a 6hp engine. My trip into work is 22 miles and I only have about 5 stoplights so most of the time would be at speed. This is obviously a on the budget project so if a 40 series that cost 100 would work almost as well as a 500 series that cost 600 I would be game for that.
I'm hoping to get 60MPH out of this thing but if I can at least get 55 I would be able to survive the roats. I have a feeling the rear sprocket is geared a lot lower than most of your road bikes but again I don't know as I've never owned a motorcyle and have ridden very few.
I also noticed someone else was using a 44 and 40 series combined for their unit. Not sure what size engine they are running.
Any of you out there running dirtbikes?
Thank you and I'll be on here a lot more as I put this thing together. Hopefully I can get it going by the beggining of next month depending on the transmission I chose.
