bmw daihatsu charade

hi been going to build a diesel bike for years,bought a rolling bmw k100 chassis with gearbox,found a engine on ebay,got them both home,then moved into workshop so the wife said.any way got engine ontobox and in frame and running,would like to know if the k100 tank and seat will fit as i dont have these,dont want to buy them and find they dont fit can anyone help :D

looking good there!!!

having had a standard K100, my guess is that the seat will fit with no problems.... and probably the tank too... I'd like to see the other side before giving a more definate assessment......

But remember, K tanks are ally..so not as bash-able as steel ones!

I quite like the K100 bikes. Seems like a good donor chassis with gearbox and shaft drive. One thing I wondered though is if it is possible to do something with the gearing since the original engine revs to 8000 rpm?

Of course you have to do something with the gearing. Especially on this one. The 1.4 TDI inside produces 75 hp at 4000 rpm and 195 Nm at 2200 rpm. It comes close to 200 km/h. That means it revs only a bit more than 2000 rpm while running 100 km/h. You have to change several gearwheels inside the gearbox.

:D THANKS GOT FRONT END ON READY FOR TEST DRIVE AT THE WEEKEND,DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE TO GET DIFFERANT GEARS FROM?, IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE CHEAPER BUYING ANOUTHER BIKE FOR TANK,SEAT AND OTHER BITS I NEED,WILL I NEED TO CHANGE THE CLUTCH PLATE FOR ONE WITH SPRINGS IN THANKS FOR HELP
