Help needed by Ken

Post by Stuart »

Just received an email from Ken. Can anyone help with his request :?:

"Hi.
I need a reliable supplier of service parts for my 1998 320cc Enfield Diesel bike. Right now, I´m out of oil filters. Are there the same filter in any Lombardini Engine?

Very grateful for any assistance in this matter.

Kind regards, Kenneth Pettersson"

Greaves/Lombardini oil filters

Post by Diesel Dave »

Yes they are the same.

It's only a brass screen so a good wash in white spirit or petrol will clean it quite effectively. There's usually a few bits of rag/lint that need picking out with a pointed thingy.

Ken's reply...

Hi again, Stuart.

This engine is fitted with a non washable insert/open paper filter element.

It is located behind a plug in the lower engine crankcase body, on the exhaust side. (to the rear on the bike)

That´s why I need a supply of new ones.

Happy for any suggestions regarding suppliers.

Rgds, Ken.

oil filters

Never heard of this type being fitted.

Try Henry Price as he has a line on supplies from India into the UK.

I'd be interested in a photo if possible.

I have a small Lombardini of about the same size that was used to run a generator that powered a lighted construction road sign on a trailer. It is fitted with an outboard oil filter of the spin-on type, looks like it may be a modification as this engine was also modified with the addition of an electronic speed (generator frequency) control and a low oil level shutoff, all added outboard of the engine.

It has been covered up in the yard with a tarp under the snow, I'll dig it out now that the snow's melted and take a look. Might be able to post a picture. A spin-on filter would probably be a LOT cheaper than the internal and easier to change out.
