Good work I see you have a pull chord start. Are you intending to stay with that or will you be able to Kick start it.

It is not in the arrival brightly planned. But in the Dreams Men Dream along the way we find the Golden road to Samarkand.

Looking good chap :D
I love looking at bikes at this stage of the build when they are all uncluttered.
Thats a long stretch on the frame, presumably for a manual box. What are you intending to use?

rewind removal,transmission

Post by BoxerOtto »

hi guys, exited to be at this stage but cant wait to be riding.the rewind is coming off and will be electric only, ive had this motor completely appart and gone through just to give it its best chance at suvival.it also has a few hours of run time just to see if the camshaft lifters are rotating.they had some pretty coarse finishes on them same with the pump lifter.frame is from a 1979 husqvarna 390 it has lostsof room to begin with. forks are from a kawasaki vulcan 800 as well as the tank. tripple trees are from a 1981 yz 125 H. they were the best doners i could find that gave room to bore to 41mm from 39mm. had to machine new bearing cups for the steering stem to accept tappered bearings.trans was going to be a kdx 175 lower half but i'm not sure now. pondering some different ideas.wheels are from a yamaha rd 400 or xs 550 not quite sure got them from the wreckers. rear shock also from yamaha dirt bike. changed spring from a suzuki full floater dirt bike, linkage is from a honda cr 60 but turned inside out . it still gives a nice rising rate.axels and swing arm pivot i machined from some 4140 nice and strong. wheel base is around 62.5 inches shuld be nice and stabil. i am building along side my brother
his is the gpz900. we help each other out and bounce ideas back and forth however we each have different styles. just glad to finally be part of the forum, love the input and like seeing the diverse amount of machines out there. bye for now, Otto.
