Even bigger (16?)HP Yanclone

Post by arnaud »

Dear everyone
My enfield is equipped with a 19T GB sprocket and a winsun 13HP engine.
Top speed is about 100km/h and.. that is fast enough for an enfield i think.

But.. against strong wind there's a problem (and yes, want to maintain this speed)
The yanmar L100 at 9 HP is made bigger and bigger by several chinese factories.
doen anyone have experience with the 15HP(almost 500cc) of the '16'hp engine by 'Varan-motor'

(16 in ''because, eh would they really?)
I don't mind an engine breaking down, but rather not in the middle of the Karpats or somewhere else on a summer trip.. yes i am that kind of idiot who takes his china engine- enfield on serious cross-Europre trips)

PricePart has it available in their conversions. And have it rated at 15 hp. But the math doesn't seem to work so well for a 20% increase in displacement to produce a 33% increase in power. Perhaps they have small horses in China. That said, I'd gladly take one to plug into my Enfield.

The engines will either be labelled as 188 (13hp) or 192 (15hp).

Neither rating is correct.

I have the 188 motor in one Enfield and a 12hp Kubota Z482 I’m the other and the Kubota is hands down more powerful.

That said, I really like the 188 engine, it’s smoother than the twin cylinder Kubota.

I’ve ridden all over Europe with it, no issues at all.

A lot will depend on your installation quality, ideally some big support bearing at the front of,the primary and a bush to support the gearbox input shaft.
