Kubota OC95???

Post by oilburner »

What do we know about the OC95 other than it's *very* expensive, is oil cooled (hence the OC designation) and has a balance shaft. A member of a diesel truck forum stated that he has an OC60, it has indirect injection (I couldn't find specs to verify that) and is very smooth and quiet. The OC95 sounds like a very nice engine for the 10hp bikes if only it wasn't so darn expensive.

Speaking of Kubota prices, when I bought my Daihatsu D950 in 2001, I was looking at a new V800 800cc 17hp 4 cyl Kubota to build a diesel equivalent of a Indian Four. They wanted a jaw dropping ten grand for the thing!!! The Daihatsu three banger has almost 10 more hp and was half the price.

IMHO one of the most important features of the Daihatsu engines is the distance between the crankshaft centerline and the bottom of the oil pan - 6.3 inches. This allows the engine to be placed very low in the frame. BTW I think the engine would also work well mounted transversely since it's only 15 1/2 inches from the crank pulley to the flywheel. Just add a CVT and a jack shaft.
