Looks like Ed's been busy of late with his most recent project. And a great job it is. Curiously, he appears to be driving directly to the crank of a smaller engine mounted aft, thereby utilizing the integral gearbox. But the cylinder was left in place with what appears to be a plate where the head should bolt. I suppose leaving the piston and con rod in place would avoid having to split the cases to replace the crank, and wouldn't require balancing. But the losses would be considerable it seems. You then have to ask, if you're going to leave the piston in place, why not put it to work as a pump/supercharger, much like DKW did (http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Cs ... 0U-yEW9Dvg). You might just generate enough additional power to compensate for the power lost in driving the blower. Or, as they say about eating a Snickers candy bar, it gives you just enough energy to reach for the next one.
Also appears that he'll need to add a trim tab to the rudder to compensate for that air filter hanging out there in the slipstream, and may also need to amputate some portion of his right leg. Enough drivel. Check it out and see if you're seeing what I"m seeing. And then we need to get him to post his build here.
