Hi all, I am going to remove my flywheel to change my stator to a 14amp version.
What is the best way to do this on the yanclones?
Sorry, its for a 187f 406cc yanmar clone

Re: best way to remove flywheel
This may be totally unrealted, Alex, as I don't know that engine at all!
On many other types of engines the flywheel will have a few holes, 2 or 3, on face of flywheel and equally spaced from center hole, which are drilled & tapped. You can use a standard gear puller, 2 or 3 leg, which matches hole span & attach bolts into holes, driving puller screw into center shaft with a washer to protect end of shaft.
If yours isn't set up this way it may be a simple matter to drill & tap some equi-distant holes & use a normal puller. But of course your engine may be designed eifferently, that what I say doesn't apply.

Aha!
So something like this should be easy?

Thanks very much

Re: best way to remove flywheel
Might work depending on the design of this flywheel. Just remember if you must drill your own holes to maintain the precise balance by having bolt holes equal distance from center, & geometrically correct. That is if 3 bolts then located in as perfect a triangle as possible and all equal distance from centerpoint of crank. Same with only two bolt holes drilled & tapped. I know you know, actually posting for others who might not understand the dynamics of a balanced flywheel.

it appears as though I already have drilled tapped holes
Thanks very much.

Re: best way to remove flywheel
Sounds good! Working on various small engines, not diesel Yanclones, it's often necessary to install puller, tension it up pretty tight, then rap the center tensioning bolt of puller with a ball peen to cause flywheel to pop loose from taper fit. Otherwise much more straight pull pressure is needed & on an old engine that can mean stripped threads on puller bolts & worse!
If it's also part of the magneto/alternator like on some bike engines don't hit the flywheel itself as it may effect the magnets, only hit center bolt of puller.
