diesel bike links

Post by gilburton »

Can someone update the links with regards to any company making or doing diesel conversions especially in the UK? The reason I ask is that I was seriously considering a bike from priceparts but I see the cost has jumped to just under £4000 for a complete bike ready to go. I know he used to offer a conversion for your own bike at £1550 but I don't know what that would be now. After looking on this site it's difficult to get "hard" up to date information on people supplying bikes. eg F2/Charnwood no longer do them and others seem to have disappeared or are just doing it as a hobby.
I would think it might be a possibility, given the fuel costs, that importing bikes from India or elsewhere would make sense again? There again anyone with sense wouldn't want one in the first place
I've got a Robin diesel engine so anyone with a rolling enfield(or dare I say a classic british bike that could be used) going cheap or could do the basic engine swap/frame mods for me at a reasonable cost let me know. The cycle parts/ electrics don't matter as I'm capable of doing that myself I just want a rolling bike with engine/ transmission done.
I'm about to retire and my first bike was a BSA C10 side valve so I know about the performance,or lack of it. I'm more interested in cheap running costs and something to tinker with as I get more senile.

I'll have a look at doing both the Links page & Current Conversions soon. Maybe its time to delete F2 but others don't always like this because of previous purchases and all sorts. I'll check links are working later.
As for importing Diesels from India Price Part told me its hard to get the no road rax chassis these days.

Just buy everything on this page or give him a ring?

Ok. I've spent a few hours moving things about and deleting. F2 is rightly gone from that page along with others. Also tidied the Links pages up abit. I hate HTML :D I hope that helps :!:

I've totalled the priceparts list and in round figures that would be about £1200 plus I have to source a bike say £1000 for a runner? or possibly less if I could get one without engine or in bits! I could also sell my robin engine to get back some of the cost. How much is a robin engine and an enfield engine worth? Trouble is if I got a runner I would be tempted to leave it

Don't get me started, I see non-runners frequently on ebay.co.uk, almost makes me sad I don't live on an island as well :(
