Yanmar Injection Pump

Post by Tanner17 »

I have a Yanmar L100EE that I removed from a gen set and installed on a DC dynomometer for performance and emissions testing. I'm having problems controlling the engine speed. At zero load I can get the speed down to around 3200 RPM before it slows to a stall. My question regards the injection pump. My manual shows two versions of the YPFE-M pump; A 100R stamp for a "Bare Engine" and a 100P for a "generator set" shown in the attached figure.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the two? I'm assuming the injection pump for the Gen Set is designed to operate at 3600 rpm and not far from that but I would like confirmation on that before I buy a new pump. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Problem solved... The difference in the injection pump is just the direction of the fuel inlet pipe. My issue was actually with the governor assembly.

But tell us more about your performance testing. Anything you learn may be of interest to some of the rest of us. And how are you taking power off of that tapered shaft?

Just getting started with performance and emissions testing for standard diesel. I made an adapter for the tapered shaft and used a splined drive shaft to connect to the DC absorbing motor. The max speed on the DC motor is 1750 rpm so I used a 3:1 belt reduction to bring the max testing speed up to 5250. See attached pics, I can also post my drawing for the adapter if anyone is interested.

Please do post your drawings of the adapter. And then keep us up to date on your testing.
