isolator for injector..

Hi, i found out the injector is seated in a isolator.
Does anyone know why?
For temperature protection?

It is quite fragile i found out...

You mean like a washer? I know my common rail engine has copper washers under the injectors to seal the cylinder. One of mine was missing when i got my engine and it leaked up past the injector. The increase in injector protrusion into the cylinder also meant the piston struck it and left a mark on the piston. You may have an IDI engine though?

yeah... if it's copper... then it is a Copper Crush washer. Should be replaced when you pull injectors. You can also Anneal them. A search of the net for:

Anneal washer

might turn up what you need.... assuming I spelled anneal right

No, i don't mean the copper washer, the plastic-paper insulator in which the nozzle fits..

the yanmar manula is not clear about it.. it mentions a nozzle spacer (coppr ring?) and nozzle gasket..
i'm not sure how/where to get a new one..

Check with a Generator repair place? My assumption would be they come with the injectors. Question will be how to get one separately?

and most, whre is it for?
is it treu that normally, there's some room between the injector nozzel en cylinder head?
So the only closure is formed by the cupper rings??

Dear people,
my apologies for posting this that late.
The yanclone engines do have some kind of isolator. It was compressed in the head and i could only see it with a pocket-light underneath.
The inside of this gasket has a teflon like base.
It doens't fit tight so i guess the real sealing is done by the cupper rings. Strangely enough the gasket i got for replacemt doesn't have that metal base, from the local yanmar dealer..
According to 'the book, directly on top of this 'plastic' gasket is a steel ring fitted, maybe for evenly support?
And below that some cupper rings..
Even stranger, it was quite difficult to get replacement for these 'burning plates'as they are called lierally translated from Dutch. Even some diesel stations also had trouble testing the injector.
On my way back i stopped at a Honda (car) dealer who was happy to give me some cupper rings, not so flat so maybe easier to make it a tight seal.
When i'm home again and got some time, i will space out the injector, and get the thing running again..
As i am quite hapy with my jawa motorcycles, i'd like to diesel again anyway..
