Re: BMW beats a dead horse... with an electric cattle prod
I guess they had to dig that old horse's carcass out of the sodden earth and then beat it. Interesting, but I can't see this type of vehicle becoming popular unless the price comes WAY down. Here in the US of A a brand new little Honda 250 can be had for $4000, sometimes under. And, Honda will sell you a bike with approved credit on your signature only- no money down! Either way, you'll still get wet when it rains. Of course that BMW logo on the 'lectric may make it sell better to the New York yuppies. Heck, they are even selling the over-priced Smart cars here and people were actually buying them for more money than the VW Jetta Diesel which gets better gas mileage, I believe. (The Smarts are only sold here in the US with the MPG-lame Gasoline engine, I don't know why they aren't sold under the name Dumb car just for the US market) Of course if you want to make a "green" political STATEMENT by what you drive, a BMW Eco-friendly electric bike would probably trump someone driving a "Smart" car and beat nearly anything else other than a pair of sneakers or a bicycle.
And, I don't care what they say, I'd STILL wear a helmet driving one of these electrics! If that thing flopped on it's side your noggin would be scraping asphalt from what I can see. Yes, I enjoy eating solid food and would like to retain my ability to do simple math, thank you.
