Can anyone post some info on the Comet 500 & 700 series CVT's
I run a 44 Mag driver and 40 driven pulley to give a 2.43 low to 1:1 top. It's rated at 16hp 4 stroke so should handle a 10Hp with a turbo strapped on.
I'm interested in the ratios available and power handling.
Nowt much available on the Hoffco Comet website.
Regards
Dave

Comet source of info
Dave and others;
Try these folks: http://www.mfgsupply.com/GoMiniClutchTorq.html
I bought from them and they have a good amount of info on their website....no, I'm not affiliated with them, other than being a customer.
In addition to buying my Comet system from them, they supplied the kits needed to tune my driver unit. If you order from them, make sure you get the name of the person taking the order, as you will find most parts have to come from the factory. When I was shopping for my system, every supplier I called did not have parts on the shelf for the larger Comet series (500). You can plan on spending a good 6 weeks from the time you order to the time you have everything worked out on your project (this includes test riding and ordering kits you think you will need, etc.). It's time consuming, but once you have it, life is good; make sure you get moving on your Comet parts early in the project, and allow yourself extra room between the drive and driven units (space greater or equal to 9-1/2" for clone engine users), also, have a bike with damn good brakes, and an excellent throttle return system. Comets like to stay engaged right up to the bike coming to a dead stop. This (in my case) is due to very low engagement speed of 1,400 rpm.
If you were to ask CrazyJerry about Comet 500 drivers, he'd suggest using his method to get the most out of one of their systems. If you purchase Jerrys CD (sold on eBay) you'll see some videos of his setup and how well it performs. His website:
