internet problems

Post by sbrumby »

I am connected broardband via a router. no problems apart from dieselbike.net. after three connections to this site it will not connect. But if I cycle the power to the router I can get in for the next couple of times. Have I got some setting wrong?

Sounds like a DNS problem (how the internet turns a website address into an IP address for the network to use). May be dependent on who your internet provider is. Probably restarting the router has caused it to fetch new DNS settings from your internet provider and thus fixed the problem. I'd leave it alone if it continues to be ok now...

Sam,

I've not tried it myself but I know people who reccomend OpenDNS -

https://www.opendns.com/start/

You could maybe try that if you are still having hassle although be sure to change anything carefully or get someone to help.
