Hi all,
work is progressing steadily on my Daihatsu 1000cc turbo- Dnepr conversion. I have managed to source all the parts I require and await delivery. The full gasket & seal set I found in Taiwan (I hope ther'e up to standard). My current problem is sourcing a manual for this engine as I need it for the torque figures and also the wiring diagram as the voltage regulator wiring is currently a mystery to me.The alternator has a big positive terminal(white wire) and a big earth terminal(brown wire) and a plug at the back with 3 thin wires (blue black and green). The regulator has 6 connections, I have traced back 3 of them to the alternator but am unsure about the other 3, any help appreciated. Also on the injection pump are 3 vaccum units, one is for the turbo (top one, goes to the inlet manifold)) the other upper one acts on the throttle arm and can only speed up the idle if positive pressure is applied. The other vaccum unit is located on the side of the pump and can only speed up idle if vaccum is applied. Any idea where they connect? At the rear of the alternator is a rotary vane oil pump which supplies oil to the turbo and has what looks like a pressure relief valve fitted, this has a branched outlet one small pipe which looks like it would fit a vaccum unit, and one large pipe with a one way valve fitted, when I got the engine it was hanging free. Any ideas appreciated.
In the meantime another daihatsu turbo engine has come up for grabs at a cost of €50 so due to scarcity of parts I might pick it up and keep it for spares (maybe the tubes might be connected).
John.

Hey John
€50 sounds good for a spare parts engine, I agree, when parts are scarce it's a good idea to have a spare, maybe the engine is good enough for an actual strip down and rebuild as a fast exchangeable spare.
I can't help out with the wiring, although Diahatsu might be able to help out. The pneumatic system sounds like a dashpot on the old Nissan and Toyota engines, without piccies I wouldn't want to tell you where they all go. Now the Nissan inline injection pump diaphragm needs two hoses, one goes on the manifold, the other the air filter, another goes from the Turbo to the en richening mechanism on the pump.
If you post some photo's I'm sure someone could help you out.
Cheers
Andrew
