Stumbled across this website which might be of good help to some here. It covers the maintenance, operations and parts list for the (genuine) Yanmar engines.

I think the top set of links (LA engine) cover the engine that often ends up in many diesel bikes (see the 406cc version within the pdf) - happy to be told otherwise though!
