My Greaves had a problem with the Valve Lifter and I had to replace it no great sweat and never had to do more than take off the Valve cover. However on restarting I can hear a popping noise from around the Cylinder head.
I always had a small oil leak from around there and used to just hose it off. Do you think the Cylinder gasket may have gone.
In which case is it easy to get the head off I can only see two Nuts holding it on and of course the exhaust and air filter plus tin ware.
Do any of you know if there should be four studs holding it down or am I missing something.

It is not in the arrival brightly planned. But in the Dreams Men Dream along the way we find the Golden road to Samarkand.

I have never seen a single cylinder engine with less than four bolts.
look inside the valve covers, sometimes rocker arm shafts are held with bolts that also hold down the head.
better still get a manual for your engine... it will help enormously. ( even looking in a parts catalog is usefull especially the exploded diagrams
