Set timing

Post by alexanderfoti »

Hi all

any idea how to set timing on my L100. My flywheel has been turned down, so I don't have any timing marks on the flywheel to go by.

Injection should be 12-14 BTDC. I assume If remove the injector and insert something long in the hole. I can determine TDC that way?

I might be talking rubbish here but I think the timing has nothing to do with the flywheel. The valve timing and injection timing all come off the camshaft this is geared to the crankshaft. Both these gears will have timing marks on.

The service manual says to move the mark on the flywheel Nd compare it to the engine case with the injector removed, but still connected. Then get it as close to the spec based on when fuel injected vs the mark on the flywheel.

Sorry I just realised, I mean injection timing, rather than timing timing! Sorry.
