Hi, are you going to use the car type transmission as pictured. If you locked up the diff you could attatch a sprocket to the output. How will you change gear?
John.

Gearing

Post by johnfireball »

Hi,
Did you know that if you lock up the non drive side output shaft that due to the way the diff works the shaft with the sprocket attatched will turn at double its normal speed. Gearing problem solved? I'm also interested to know what the gearbox is off.

What you have to do is weld the planete gears to the sun gear then is goes at the correct speed.

Sorry Jon I did not read the end of your message sometimes the web page opens up double size and I have to use the scroll bar to see all the message. You are correct what you say but how long the planete gears would last is anybodys guess, as they only move occasionally under normal opperation.
