30hp turbo punsun
This is my first post, did a quick search and couldn't find anything about this, so I had to point it out. On the alibaba.com site, I found a factory 30hp turbo punsun vtwin. Hope to build a diesel bike at some point, would like to use a 2 cyl 19hp lombardini diesel or maybe try the turbo punsun....just worry about quality, and how to go about ordering one. I do not under stand the pricing on the site either.

If its quality you're worried about I'd go with the Lombardini.
If ordering from abroad beware import tax!

Ok thanks. What do you guys think of the Lomb. 25ld425?? There's one on eBay for about $2300. Doesn't seem like a bad price. I do have a small 4cyl kubota but I think it's too big. Probably going to sell it and get the Lombardini.

I agree with Stuart, reliability is everything and Punsun has a bad rep.
I had this conversation at the Diesel bike rally, I stated that Chinese engines were not a good idea due to reliability issues. It was suggested that Chinese engines had maybe got better with time. Well maybe, but the Austrian bike (with side car) that was so rugged looking (brick privy) had a Chinese engine and it ended up going home on a low loader. It may not have been the engine, I'm just guessing, but that bike looked like it could go through a brick wall and not be affected by it.
You can't go wrong with Lombardini / Ruggerini it's reliable stuff.
The 25LD425 is a 19hp twin so it should be ok for cruising at 65ish and top speed 75+ish, just make sure the exhaust has no back pressure, don't over baffle it with those nasty little baffles we see on ebay (
).
Old Harley 1990 Sportster silencers should be ok as they have baffle plates, the fiber matting will get clogged in time, maybe a good idea to take it out and save some weight.
Go with a nice wide ratio gearbox, Optima / Harley overdrive is the way to go, then monkey around with sprockets to suit your riding.
I've got my 23hp Ruggerini rd211 (I'm sure this is now a Lombardini 12ld) to 87mph (I want the 3mph more) and 136mpg(@58).
You can gain an extra 1hp on these engine types by taking the fan off the flywheel.
All the best with your build.

Re: 30hp turbo punsun
Thanks for the replies. I see that Carroll stream is now selling a 20hp vtwin diesel with their name on it. Assuming its a punsun. Can't get the vtwin out of my head.....I'm a Harley guy
I found some plans for a tubing bender online I hope to build soon. Looks fairly easy to fab. Looking to build the frame and all.
