India contacts

Post by Anorak_ian »

Does anyone know of a good contact (e-mail) in India for Royal Enfield spare parts?
The contact that I had is less than useless, a total time waster. :(

I would like to contact Southern Motors in Chennai but despite a search on the net I can't find their e-mail address.

Cheers

Hi Ian

I take it you got the run around with Hero I see. Don't know what is wrong with the guy - Charles gave me his details and everything was fine until I contacted him for more parts last month - he wanted me to buy bulk and sell here - as if I don't have enough on my plate already.

So it looks like I too will have to source a supplier - the guy here in OZ is less of a help then anyone, so I'm at a loss where to look myself.

I know http://royalmotorcycle.com/default.asp seemed helpful, but if I can remember, payment was going to be a real pain to sort out - maybe better for yourself.

It's damn hard to find anyone these days hay!

Cheers

What do you need? I can check around... I'm in New Delhi, and I know a couple of shop owners.

Apart from getting your parts from Henry at Price parts who is cheaper than importing them yourself try emailing.
andy@indiabikes.com
It is not in the arrival brightly planned. But in the Dreams Men Dream along the way we find the Golden road to Samarkand.

I'm still in New Delhi...

I may have found a supplier for the (he says) 500cc Lombardini-Greaves diesel, complete and mounted with the four-speed Enfield gearbox. I'm gonna buy one for my Enfield project, and should be able to see if it's actually 500cc. This would be a nice setup, as it comes as a complete kit, and you only need to bolt it into the chassis.

Hi T.P

There's also a chap "Export Connection" selling complete Diesel Enfields worldwide from Delhi, India on Ebay saying they are 500cc's. Might be the same guy?

From the pics they look really presentable, and feedback has been 100% positive.

A 500cc engine would be a lot better than the smaller engines. I'm finding I've got a power problem with my 406cc Yanmar clone at times - or should I say the road raging ratbags have no patients!

Hi Chris

The Ebay site has a link to a main website - http://www.vintagerides.com/English/eng_index.htm from there you can get the contact info as I'll post below.

Just remember to ask lots of questions etc, and by posting the information below it's not a personal recommendation as I have not viewed any of his machines/conversions. According to Ebay feedback all buyers seem happy.

Cheers
