Ahead of the website, I have a video of the test run, up here for your viewing delight.

One thing that is confusing me is the clutch slippage.

It REALLY slips, until halfway through the video, where I am slipping it whilst holding the break, lots of smoke later and its much better, although im sure its water I cannot be sure. Any thoughts?

Additional y, when I am engine braking my drive chain slips, I think this is either too many links, or not enough tension on the chain.

Diesels have an insatiable appetite for clutches, torque converters, belts and chains, no doubt about it. If there's a drive train or clutch specialty shop or rebuilders around they can usually put more heavy duty springs in the pressure plate. Over time this can bend the release arms on pressure plate if they're not sturdy enough. Another fix is a wider diameter clutch plate if it can be fit to the pressure plate diameter. Of course a super heavy duty clutch may well require a hydraulic clutch release system so that you can even actuate it.

Many thanks Xlerate. I took it all apart and put it back together again, and its working correctly now! My guess was incorrect tension on the end nut. Thanks for the input!

I think you must replace the clutchplates by another type clutchplates.(types with more friction)

But I need to correct my error: I said to possibly fit a larger clutch plate if it would fit with pressure plate - wrong! I meant to say to fit a larger clutch/pressure plate if they will fit to the flywheel.

I must admit to a bit of chuckling when you showed all your gauges in the vid, then started her in gear DOH ! I guess there will be a neutral light soon .
I'm amazed your winding your own charging system, good on yeh, I would'nt have thought of just making it better .

It did alright, 200 miles to the big knock and back with no major problems, funnily enough though, the chain snapped a couple of days after I got home, a bit odd that one.

Yeah, I thought to myself, naaah I don't need a neutral light, may need to re-think that now :p

Yeah I rewound it, but it didn't work, now im thinking its because I didn't have the 6 magnet piece for the flywheel, so I now have that, but no forks on the bike mean I have to fix that bit first, so the forks are apart
