Re: The Big Knock 2014
I just received my shirt today. I must say it looks much better in person than it does on my computer. The shirts are top-notch. Grab them quick if you still can! Thanks Stuart for sending me one, I'll be wearing it (out) this summer, no doubt. Wish I could join everyone there, perhaps another year....

Got to love how much many of these engines jerk around the public. "Oh hey! We are building it." then you never really hear about anything in the pipeline and you forget about it. Probably looks good to the shareholders though.

What 1.6? None listed above...? VW? I was referring to an engine not on his list. It's a VW 4. They used to put them into jetta's back in the day. You can find them easily and cheap, a 1.6l Turbo (i don't know if it included the turbo or not) for about 2300$ rebuilt from the web: https://www.gex.co...

India is a form of organized anarchy with some really hair raising roadways. It must be a very interesting place to live, but only if you are the right caste. There is a lot of corruption as well.

Honda John used a pond aerator for his. He's still working the kinks (he needs to increase the ratio) but he's put 4 psi into it so far. Here is the link to the thread. It may be an option.

The 1.6 is probably lurking around somewhere as well, it clocks in at about 223lb and seems to be about the best balance of size, output, and weight.

Re: Hello from Nova Scotia
I've seen a lot of experienced riders who have trouble with the mixed surfaces. One thing I commonly see is a death grip on the handle bars, trying to force the front wheel to straight instead of letting it meander a bit. Our bikes want to stay up, it's rider input that brings them down more often t...

Growing up on miles of gravel with the FJ1200 I know exactly what you mean. Curiously enough, I found the solution to instability was often to speed up a bit: the same patch of gravel/mixed terrain that felt shakey at one speed often felt fine at another.

I think I see what you are talking about in my head, but wouldn't this burn the loose belts when the alternative gear selections are made? Also, are you actuating the camshifter directly as the rider, or how is that working. Even the rototiller version of this requires significant pressure to work (...

Of course that inludes correcting bores and getting the best possible cross hatch when honing cylinders. I got a whole bunch of flack on another forum where guys claimed I really was a screwup for using a stone type hone to bore out a cylinder .75mm oversize. "Boy, what a jerk!" Did that ...

Re: US engine Reefer unit as a source for diesel engine?
Some great information there. I really don't think you are reducing engine life that drastically unless you are doing some serious boring to the cylinder wall, enough to give you heat spots or the like because you've reduced the thickeness that much. Especially with an OEM kit like the one you speak...

They are Petit Mal (Absence) Seizures so it could be worse, still makes a mess out of your day sometimes, I have them quite frequently and they like erasing the parts of my day directly before they occur, which is what first alerted me to them. It could be worse though.

That's always been my knowledge on the subject. I believe in a modern system you can get some solid-state in there to increase the efficiency, but it should be doable.XLerate wrote:To my dim reollection most motors become generators when the shaft is spun, don't recall if that's AC or DC or whatever.
