Hey Andrew
I've read that the mineral 2 stroke oil is the go.

Re: Power Problem with your Enfield? If so try this
Hi Sphere
Top end is about 90km/h, so 56.25mph. This is according to the inaccurate speedo that reads 10km/h too fast.
Also going by an excel gearing spreadsheet with all the parameters put in the top speed with the 17th is 90km/h.

Re: Power Problem with your Enfield? If so try this
Hey John, Sphere I'm running a 17 tooth with stock primary gearing. Oil in box. Cruising speed roughly 50mph. Gearbox internals not modified. On one leg of a tour I managed to travel 568km on 9.00 liters. This is 63.11km/l or 1.58l/100km 178.33mpg Thats the highest I've got so far. The engine has 42...

Re: Newbie from Sydney Australia
Gday Sean I could be wrong but I think that the Urals require frame lengthening. This could be a problem with rego. You'd definitely need an engineers report if your in NSW. Fellow member Andrewaust can tell you. Here in SA its quite easy to change rego, since no frame mods were done my Diesel Enfie...

The trike with engine in photo 5 looks like a Lombardini 4LD series so could be anything from 640cc to 820cc single cyl

You could try Mitas tyres, made in CZ Rep. They look smililar.
Czech out their website http://www.motorcycletyres.net.au/tyres ... index.html
They are quite cheap here, should be even cheaper in the UK.

I'd gladly take the Avon SM off your hands
My Avon tire combo works well in the wet too, no squirrelly moments yet. You'll be fine with the SM at rear just dont corner like you would with modern concave tyres

Hi Spetom Those are the same pictures that got me hooked on Diesel Enfields too :) 1) Those tyres could be MRF Brand. They're made in India. You'd be better off with Avon Safety Mileage on rear and Speedmaster up front. Most old British motorcycles have been using this setup for more than fifty year...

South Australian Registration
Hello all Though this info may be useless to most here goes The process was done some weeks ago. Registering my Enfield Diesel was very simple.I rang Vehicle Standards(place that tells you what you can mod on a vehicle), since no frame mods were done all I needed to do was fill out a vehicle modific...

Keep the sprocket as is. It gives more weight on the left hand side and balances out the heavy flywheel thats on the RHS

Hey Arnaud Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep it in mind Andrew the sprocket should have a allen grub screw thru the key way like this. It will bite into the key steel and wont budge. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_AWnc_1t51lg/TH8HQjhwxCI/AAAAAAAAARg/ca0fAP-NrTM/s912/IMG_0179.jpg http://lh6.ggpht.com/_AWnc_1...

Hi Andrew
Yes the diesel shaft sprocket is same 25 th duplex.
Depends where you will be riding, choose the front sprocket to suit.
After riding another 200km yesterday mostly flat i reckon i might go the 18th.

Hi Ambuuu
I'm with the coach on this one, that 3 cyl motor is probably too big for the humble Enfield.
Sounds like some great adventures
Ambuuu is this your Taurus?

Re: Enfield Diesel conversion partlist
Hi Sphere Thanks for concern. I thought it would be weak. The GB is bolted solidly to the frame so I think it should be fine. :) There's the usual 4 bolts holding the bracket to the GB. The little triangles sticking out were sawed off to move the motor and use original inner primary. Snoopy yeah tha...

Re: Enfield Diesel conversion partlist
Subject: Enfield Diesel conversion partlist I also need info about converting this without the extended shaft and Taurus cover. Hello
Never heard of a postie thats 400cc
I thought they were 105cc capacity, which is the Honda CT110
They do have no manual operated clutch though.

Andrew that bike that Paul rides on the goodoil site seems to use a lot of fuel, 3.5l per 100. Though you did say less BTU for the bio stuff and maybe costs less then mineral diesel Here's a bit of info on the Taurus when imported to Aus the price list is from the 1'st of November 2000 The standard ...

Nice machine and with a genuine Yanmar even better.
I've got the same thoughts on the performance of these Diesel powered Enfields. For what they are they ride really well.

Hello all My names Dan and I'm a long time lurker of this forum. I really like motorcycle touring and figured that economy wise my current mount SR500 had to me a short range. I like old bikes then I found out about Indian Enfields. They have all I'm after: 350 or 500 single right side shift 4spd an...
