Re: Enfield with Ruggerini MD151
Thanks for the warning about the bush and the drawing of your design. The bush is certainly very under-engineered in comparison to the shaft support on Stuarts Ruggerfield. Have attached picture of current state of build..still much to do before its on the road, but the engine fits (just ) without a...

Re: Enfield with Ruggerini MD151
Thanks. Great spreadsheet. That is a useful top speed which is enough to keep up with traffic. Im going to leave the standard 17T sprocket on for now. Lots of steep hills round here so will wait and see how it gets up them before changing any cogs. I saw that you are using a needle roller bearing in...

Re: Enfield with Ruggerini MD151
Hi Erik
I looked at your shots of the bike on youtube..looks and sounds good..wondered about the shot of the speedo...am I going to get more performance than I am expecting? or is it a slightly optimistic speedo? Mildly concerned as I have an identical bit of kit in a box waiting to fit!

Re: Enfield mainshaft
Thanks..that link gave me a shock...the advice not to be tempted to take a hammer to it...oops..but finally managed to get through to enry and it appears all is (as) well (as can be expected). The 96 home market enfields had metric bearing in them, even though all the nuts are Whitworth, and the ext...

Re: Enfield mainshaft
I dont know enough about the origins of the shaft to say (it came from a very dark corner in enry's store and was wrapped in brown paper). The bearing is definately not metric as its out of a 96 Indian home market gearbox (thank you to Antoos Autos in Durgapur), and probably after the beating I gave...

Re: Enfield mainshaft
Thanks for your suggestions. I did try contacting the supplier but they appear to have 'gone fishing' I contacted my local machinists who confirmed that as the end is case hardened there was no way they could skim it. So this morning I removed the end bearing, assembled the box and then managed to '...

Enfield mainshaft
Hi. Currently partway through putting a Ruggerini 150 into a 96 'home market' bullet with four speed box. I bought the longer extended mainshaft (13 1/8") from a well know supplied of Parts, but on putting the gearbox back together found that it doesnt fit the standard bearing on the rhs of the...

Re: Enfield with Ruggerini MD151
Hi Im in the process of a similar build..though some way behind. i.e same engine, and bike Very useful pictures Wondered whether you could help with a couple of queries Are you using the existing holes in the Taurus inner chaincase? Theres an angle of c.25 degree offset with these holes so that to u...

enfield UCE clutch
Wondered if anyone had knowledge of the clutch fitted on the UCE 500 bullets. Its a seven plate clutch and as the 500 is quoted as producing 41 Nm, it must work reasonably well. Begs the question, is it compatible with the old pre unit mainshaft?

Many thanks Stuart for answering the queries and all the photos. Its going to take me while to digest all this info. The bearing carrier block is a substantial bit of kit! Regards ww

Re: help with engine selection
Thanks for the advice ( and thanks for moving the topic to a more apt location :) ). I remembered that the Centaurus used the Ruggerini and had a look at some photos. I guess one of the reasons that the engine is angled forwards in that bike is to give better access to the oil filler. In terms of th...

help with engine selection
Hi..Im planning the usual Enfield diesel conversion and looking a suitable engine, preferably with more grunt than the Yanmar...Ive looked at the Ruggerini md191/151 outline drawings, trying to work out whether it fits into the Bullet frame. Ive looked over the forum for clues but without success. I...
