I've a company involved with motorcycles asking me about this engine. Does anyone know or have any opinions on it that I could pass on?
Cheers

Re: Lombardini CT Move engine
It's basically the same motor as my Tiger but with a few subtle changes:
Alloy block to make it lighter
Canted forwards to allow easier fitting below a low bonnet line
CVT & gearbox.
Non-crossflow.
The basic injection system is like the old pulse duse VW setup where the injection pumps and injectors are one piece driven by the OHC - makes for a very clean looking motor.
There is supposed to be a 600cc twin with the alloy barrel but I've never managed to find it.

Re: Lombardini CT Move engine
I had the LDW 1204 in my diesel Hijet and they were soon dropped by Daihatsu.
It's worth noting that Ligier dropped the Lombardini twin diesel in favour of a very similar Lombardini petrol engine.
Main drawback of the combined injector/pump is that you need one for each cylinder and the cost about 10/15 yrs ago was £1000 for 4 for for the LDW 1204.
Basically apart from 1,2,3 or 4 cylinders the LDW range was a single engine multiplied to get larger ones. Bit like Gardner used to do with truck engines.
Of course this latest engine may be completely different??

That engine model appears to have a gearbox driven by the CVT. Gearbox probably also has a reverse.

It has indeed and that is exactly the same as the French microcars.coachgeo wrote:That engine model appears to have a gearbox driven by the CVT. Gearbox probably also has a reverse.
It's a simple forward/reverse and houses a diff.
You can just see the gearbox on this Aixam example below the centre fuel filter and the shafts either side.

Possibly the diff could be locked up and a chain run from either side or with the engine turned sideways shaft drive could be employrd?
Useful on a heavy bike for reverse or a sidecar??
