Any Dnepr owners out there who can identify this spring from an MT11 gearbox? It doesn't show on the parts diagrams. For the life of me I can't remember where it um, sprang from I think it has to do with the reverse setup.
The kickstart spring looks like a valve spring about 2 1/2 inches long that has to be wound up. Speaking of the kickstart, the lever on this gearbox fits on a spline with a nut to hold it in place. The parts manual shows a different setup with the usual taper pin. Could it be this is a bitsa gearbox and the kickstart is from an MT10? I had an MT10 18 years ago.. I can't remember... Thanks for the help!
I've concluded that this spring does not belong in the gearbox, and I've assembled the gearbox according to the repair manual and only the parts shown in the drawings. The gearbox is from one of the infamous kit bikes and was in terrible condition, so an extra piece or two isn't surprising.
Thanks for the ideas, and sorry to have wasted the bandwidth.
