I am selling a beautiful, fully restored Diesel Royal Enfield. The bike has a 406cc single cylinder Yanmar diesel engine and gets 180mpg! Granted the bike's top speed is 65mph but if your interested in this bike for high performance your looking in the wrong place, it's a classic thumper that is as rare as it is fun. I took this thing on a 3,000 mile road trip one summer and was getting 450miles to the tank (under 3 gallon tank), and the thing just keeps putting. These bikes were originally made in Europe until an Indian company bought them out and now are made exclusively there. Importing these are a hassle, to say the least, but I have all the paperwork and have registered and insured this bike in Oregon. These bikes classic and have a ton of character, but need attention to keep them running tip top. This bike was rebuilt from the ground up several years ago and has sat since I moved out. The frame and body powdercoated, wiring totally redone, new parts everywhere, clutch, chain, sprockets, wheels, brakes..... literally everything. The bike kicks over and thumps along just great (sounds sweet too) but there are a couple of issues that need to be fixed and I just haven't gotten around to doing them. So because it is a single cylinder the top end tends to vibrate at higher rpms and I have cracked muffler mounts, so the head needs to be bolted down to the frame. Second the original design for the front brakes on these old bikes is worthless, and they sell both disc brake conversions and upgrades for the originals that convert them to dual pivoting lobes on the brake shoes. The last issue is that the stock rectifier for the engine is not powerful enough to charge the battery so I purchased all the parts to build a new regulator and just have not had the time to assemble it and wire it in. It might sound like alot but if that scares you off this bike isn't for you anyways, this thing is fun and will have you talking for days about it when you pull up to the pump (or not if you run biodiesel) or anywhere. I have gone back and forth about selling this thing because it is just too much fun, but I have so many projects and I would like to see this thing back on the road again, and my Mom is on me to get it out of her garage! It needs some love but if you want a show piece that is a one of a kind give me a ring and we can chat. I am open to offers but I know what it's worth.
