Is it possible to chop the gearbox off the back of a unit construction 2 stroke engine? Seeing they run a separate dry crankcase the gearbox should be a sealed separate item ?
I have a mate with a shed full of rusting junk Japanese machines and I could probably get hold of one very cheaply .The idea is to use it instead of an Enfield box .....which is kind of expensive here .

Don't see why not. You could argue that the space between ratios was not a suitable match but who cares if you're got 6 gears to play with, and more importantly its cheap. I've seen a couple but cant find the photos just a the moment.
