FFS Dave! Do you ever have all of them in one piece at the same time? :)

On a serious note... is Hamm still on? I did drop Raf a message on Twitter to check if it was still on but no reply yet. Anyone else managed to confirm?

Re: Covid situation - how is everyone?

That's really rough Mark. Sorry to hear it both on the people you know and the job front but glad you're the 'right way up' at least. My kids are struggling without the routine of school, wife and I are struggling with having to juggle them and some home-schooling with working long days from from ho...

Covid situation - how is everyone?

This isn't much of a 'chatty' forum these days with everyone largely focusing on the technical side of things. What I thought I'd do - and I hope you don't mind Stuart - is just open up a thread to check how everyone is during this time. It's an opportunity to be angry, be positive or just explain h...

Re: Big Knock 2020

Well even though we are now allowed out for a ride I’m gonna miss the Big Knock. So I’m buying a raft of widget Guinness, putting the tent up at the bottom of the garden and cooking myself a burger on the BBQ followed by talking bollox to myself whilst sitting around a campfire for the evening. Fri...

Real shame about this Stuart but I guess sadly unavoidable. Very much hoping we've all got back to some kind of normality in time for Hamm this year as well. Hope everyone is staying safe and well.

Re: Petrol additive to use when storing cars.

I'll second fuel stabiliser. Also... cheap supermarket 95RON is fine when it's being used every day, it goes off frighteningly quickly when it isn't so I wouldn't recommend leaving a car with a tank full of it long term even with stabiliser. Same with Tesco Momentum (99RON) as well oddly enough but ...

Re: Big Knock on tour

It is a good idea but one thing worth considering is that kind of distance each day all ends up having to be done on motorways or similar roads. It’s a long time in the saddle even on a fast bike and you don’t want the ride to stop being fun which when you’re just trying to achieve distances. There ...

Thanks for that Dave - I look so young and the bike so clean! Sadly I don't look the former and the latter is in Wales (I believe). I'm still here though so not that easy to get rid of and my old Revere smokes like a diesel in sympathy now too (my job for the spring). Hopefully Rafael will be along ...

Stuart - hope you don’t mind but I moved your post to the Hamm 2018 thread! I’ve missed the last couple so can’t wait and really looking forward...

Thanks to an op date being moved I'm now unable to go to Hamm this year. Gutted to be honest not in the least given for related reasons I couldn't make the Big Knock either. Have a great time to everyone who is making it, take plenty of pictures and safe riding.

Re: GTL Diesel (Gas to liquid)

UK V-Power from Shell apparently contains GTL though in what proportion is anyone's guess as Shell didn't release that information. Out of interest Bert (and for the next time I'm in the Netherlands) is GTL easy to find there? Is there a specific fuel company (like Shell) that is selling it? I'd be ...

Slightly off topic as not diesel related but I can highly recommend Nathan Millward's "The Long Ride Home" book. Very much a story that includes both his struggles with the personal side of the journey from Australia to the UK and - and what many of the other so called "biker journey&...

Haynes and tool humour

Have seen some of these before but they still raise a chuckle... Haynes: Rotate anticlockwise. Translation: Clamp with molegrips (adjustable wrench) then beat repeatedly with hammer anticlockwise. You do know which way is anticlockwise, don't you? Haynes: Should remove easily. Translation: Will be c...

So the ferry is due to chuck us off at 06:30 (I'm pretty sure it used to be a more sensible hour?), no doubt by the time we get off the boat and through passport control it may well be 7am. Dave! I got caught out by this on the family holiday earlier in the year - it's 8am rather than 6.30am (which...

I sold my diesel Enfield in 2013 and have been on the naughty step since having had a petrol FJR1300 and various petrol cars (including a beautiful Volvo 740 with only 30k miles). By pure chance I'm now back in the world of diesel as I bought the last unregistered right hand drive SAAB 9-5 earlier t...

I remain jealous of your Acadiane ownership! What a lovely car... And on topic... 32 psi :) Third wheel. Doesn't support you. Nothing other than a drag on the bike. 32 should be high enough to give minimal resistance with load but low enough to stop bouncing. Maybe we should have a sweepstake on wha...
