My dragstar trike wasn't playing ball and fighting me and the spanners so the gremlins were having a good time today.
I took a lunch break and they must have still been on break as the job I was fighting went straight on in minutes

Re: MZ Diesel gearbox....
Forget the scooter cvt as they are set up for high revs and will need some modification to fit. Best option, if going the cvt route is a comet cvt/drive they sometimes pop up on ebay or you can get them from here in the UK. They can advise on the best one for power and to suit the shaft size. https:...

Probably the torque along with the sliding/drifting.
I've seen this on trucks. It's twisting as you are winding it up it's not bending.

Re: leaving the forced air cooling
You can get temp sensors that use a ring that goes under the spark plug. Whether this would work under a bolt on the head of a diesel I don't know but here is an example. I think you can get cheaper versions ?? Personally I would leave the cooling alone. As yours is a twin inline or fore and aft( ex...

Re: The biginning of the heap of crap
On left turns you gently accelerate and "drive" round the sidecar. On right turns at speed you feather the throttle and the sidecar weight pushes it round the bike. All that is on a standard bike/sidecar. How is the front suspension doing?? I did wonder if it might be too hard with 2 car s...

Re: The biginning of the heap of crap
Sidecarring is an art in itself but I suspect that with all that weight the sidecar isn't much of a problem on left handers lol
Well done in the fact all you had was a minor oil leak after all the mods you have done. Maybe you should carry a welder

Re: Diesel Punk, the beginning :)
Keep any receipts especially the engine. You may be asked to verify the change of engine. I took mine to the local MOT garage where they had a look at the frame and engine numbers and gave me a statement of that on headed paper which I then sent off. You can't just declare an engine change these days.

Wanted diesel bike/project swap Transalp??
Looking for a project as I am missing my old MZ diesel. Nothing too radical or expensive but an Enfield needing attention would do preferably with a Chinese clone rather than a greaves engine. As usual I don't have cash but I do have quite a nice 600 Transalp which I would swap if anyone is interest...

Personally I'd be looking at getting a centre stand fitted as it hold the rear wheel off the ground.
Did the brackets get removed when the frame was stretched? Only other option is to take off your luggage and lay the bike down on a verge ?

Now that the forum is up and running again we used to be able to set it up to see the recent posts or active topics.
Can't seem to do that now as nothing comes up on the search?
I now have to plough through and try to find the latest posts by searching for the dates?

When I did mine I used a classic car "smiths" type ignition switch in place of the MZ ignition switch so twisting the key started the engine.

Looks like they are building a diesel bike next week? It's already been shown in the US but we are a couple of weeks behind.

Re: Could this be the start if Sluggy II?
Many years ago I had a near new 850-T3 California and sidecar. Compared with the average early Japanese braking they were light years ahead. You pulled the brake on the jap bikes and, if it was raining, wait until the disc dried enough to actually brake lol It might be a bit powerful on an Enfield th...

Hence the rust on on the disc on your earlier pic under the tarpaulin. That is a cast iron Guzzi disc as well. Slightest drop of rain and they rust like a car disc lol

Problems logging on to site
Anyone any idea why I can't log on via Virgin but if I use a VPN the web page comes up no problem??
I'm using Firefox and I've tried Edge and Chrome without success.
Why would Virgin block suckindiesel.com??
I can get on to dieselbike.net but not the forum??

Re: CVT Behavior right or not?
Have you tried lifting the bike on the center stand or on a lift of some sort so that the rear wheel is clear of the ground and start the engine and see what happens? It may be something is jamming the front pulley closed a little eg weights/sliders and it may clear after running?? If it doesn't I w...

Yep 50mph everywhere in France now apart from Motorways etc.
My sister in law (in France) is moaning like mad about it.
Even a diesel bike is in danger of speeding.

Re: Aixam Diesel belt thickness
As long as the front pulley disengages or isn't trying to engage at idle it should be ok. There are quite a few Aixam belts but,as you say, they just list the part numbers with no dimensions. If you have a local bearing/industrial drive dealer they can usually help with belts and possibly give you a...

Re: Aixam Diesel belt thickness
According to the 500/5 workshop manual "the belt should be changed at 28.5mm which is app 2mm less than new". That is exactly what it says so it would appear your original belt may be ok as a new belt should be app 30.5mm. Something is wrong somewhere? Either the new belt is wrong or, beca...
